City of Rabaul in Papua New Guinea – not the best choice of accommodation if you like peace and you do not have nerves of steel. The fact is that this town is surrounded by three active volcanoes that periodically wash this place off the face of the planet. Rabaul in Papua New Guinea was destroyed almost 20 years ago when three volcanoes — Tavurvur, Vulcan and Rabalankaia — erupted. It’s definitely worth staying a day or two in Rabaul to soak up the surreal atmosphere and explore the nearby sights.
